basically this song is about a couple that has been together for 5 years. but on their 5th year anniversary she confesses that she has been secretly seeing someone else. his heart is broken. he thinks that after being a part for a month that she would come back to him. something would happen to make her see that he is what she truly wants and needs. he knows that things will never be the same even if she wants him ever again. but he is going to remember her as the perfect girl he loved and thought she was. she might want things to be okay between them. but he can't want her again. he knows somewhere deep inside she wants him to still love her. but he can't. he wants to forgive her but deep down that's something he can't do. just found that for ya

well i know that derek writes most of the songs but I'm not possitive that he wrote this one.......i do know that it is one of my favorite sons though....sorry i couldnt be more help :/
