What direction do you think Mayday should go now?

For the next album, where do you think they should go? I very much enjoy Derek's voice, but I would like a tad more dual vocals. I'd also like an angry song. Nothing too intense of course, but I'm curious to hear how an angry song would sound by them. Something like whole song with as much venom as the title "If you can't live without me, why aren't you dead yet." Anyways, your thoughts?

I don't they they should go in a new direction. They're awesome just the way they are... that's only my opinion, though.

I agree with you Jaymee that an angry song would be interesting, as long as it didn't taint the feel of the entire album. If it fits the mood, it would be awesome! I really would like to hear a song with as much bite as When I Get Home You're So Dead again. Other than that I think Mayday is perfect as they are...

Right. Have you heard Jason's voice in an acoustic session? Mmmm not gonna cut it if he can't hit the notes. Just sayin. Now. Enough of Jason Lancaster. He isn't in Mayday anymore so get over it. Can this discussion get back to what I posted it for? What direction do you think MAYDAY PARADE should go from here?

I honestly think Jason took all the lyrical talent with him when he left Mayday. In my opinion, Go Radio is better the "new" Mayday but nothing can beat old Mayday. Has anyone actually heard Jake's voice? He isn't good. Sorry if anyone doesn't like what I just said but listen to one of their acoustic performances where Jake sings with Derek and tell me that Jake is honestly good. He isn't. Besides that, really listen to Derek's lyrics. A majority of them talk about counting stars. Derek doesn't date so who are these songs even about? I'm sure I'm coming off as anti-Mayday. I actually love them, but they wouldn't be where they are today without Jason getting them there. Either he needs to come back (which he won't), or someone else needs to write their songs...and Jake should never touch a microphone again.

I'd really like more dual vocals too for their next album. Derek's and Jake's voice together is

I agree somewhat. Go Radio's lyrics aren't amazing to me and don't compare to ALIR. Of course they were better together but I still think Mayday is the better band for now.

I really couldn't care less what direction they go, but they need to work on their lyrics. They took a huge hit once Jason left, and even though "Anywhere but Here" had hooks and some good/decent songs, it seems Jason took the clever lyrics with him. "A Lesson In Romantics" is still one of my favorite pop/rock albums, and I'm hoping all the talent isn't only going to be in Go Radio.
