Well, I just decided stop showing my music to my mother. She's always trying to find some meaning to every title or lyric.
And when she has listened to them, always says "oh, they don't have any vocal tecnique". And I'm always like "WTF? Who cares?". And then just start saying things like my music gives her headache or why do they have an annoying voice? or gets her dizzy (I was listening to Green Day- Boulevard of Broken Dreams). I mean, that's one of the most relaxing songs of Green Day!

I'm not sure if she has listened to Mayday, but I bet she has.
The most annoying thing is when she asks me to turn it off because she's doing anything and the music is driving her nuts.

I don't know I guess she doesn't get what I like. Once I bought a The Academy Is... record and she just came to me and made me promise her that that music isn't electronic. I mean, really? electronic?

Sometimes I'm not even sure about if I have to laugh or not.

Not that they hate it that much but it sometimes bugs me when they tell me to stoop listening to it. My name is Lisa. Is it wrong for a sexy girl like me to listen to this kind of music??

I asked to go to warped tour this year and my mom asked what kind of music was gonna be playing so i let her listen to one of my CDs that has a bunch of different bands (asking alexandria, the devil wears prada..ETC...) and she said shed rather stab her ears out than listen to "That satanic Bullshit"

my parents HATE da music i listen 2!it sucks!lik i cant hear my music in front of dem or pump da volume 2 da radio or sumthin cuz dey will get SUPER pissed! dats y i dont have an ipod :( i wish my parents wuld take da time 2 relate 2 me and try 2 understand y i lik or just simply not care.we've had soo many fights cuz of da music i listen 2.

my parents don't say anything unless the music isn't too loud and to much "screamo". i mean i don't like listen to screamo all the time. but i love escape the fate and there are some parts that are this way. and when i turn up the volume because i just can't listen to etf songs if they are on low volume, my mum gets a collapse and tells me i'm weird and not normal to listen to such guys who scream all the time. haha. i always laugh and she just shakes her head . ;)
however, no ONE understand how great mayday parade are here in my region . i'm kinda the only one who knows them. annoying -,-

If your trying to get ur mum to like MP then don't play 'Miserable at Best'! my mum said they sounded drunk and it was depressing!! (Incredibly offensive, I know).
just play the more oldies sounding ones (does that make sense?) I guess my mum doesn't like 'Miserable at Best' as I was playing it on piano for so long...

agreed. my mom listens to like Arcade Fire and Classical Music.
sure, i like arcade fire too, but i couldn't listen to it 24/7...
and classical music is SHIT.

i here you man. once, i was in the car with my parents, so i plugged my ipod into the usb port so that i wouldnt have to listen to Elvis Presley. when i turned it on, Miserable At Best was playing and for some reason, they called it "head-banging screamo music". what the crap is up with that? that is nowhere near screamo. much less head banging. so i turned it to three chears for five years and they still thought the same thing! my parents are NOT normal.

My parents don't really care about what music im listening to unless, it's super loud. But my sister is really into rap music, and likes Lil Wayne and all those other losers (: and my mom really hates it, mainly because she thinks all they sing about is drugs and sex. And whenever I have Paramore on or something rock-ish, my sister will be like "stop listening to that white trash". She thinks she's black...it's kinda funny.

i totally agree. i was listening to mayday parade, and tokio hotel, and my mom said to TURN IT OFF!!! how can these people hate totally awesome bands?? god, it is soo anoying!!!!!!!! no 1 likes listining to MP, and Tokio Hotel!!! duh, there awesome!!!

So I live in Mississippi and EVERYONE here is EXACTLY the same!!! Everyone listens to country and whatever new pop song is out and Im like the only one who listens to music like Mayday Parade and things like that! No one here likes change either so they won't listen to my stuff. My parents hate stuff with a bunch of guitars and drums and stuff because they say it gives them a headache although the crap they listen to gives me a headache too! So I dunno its frustrating because more then half of everyone here is exactly the same but those that do listen to the stuff i listen to always seem to love it! :)

my parents ABSOLUTELY HATE my brother's music, but we practically listen to the same music, except he sometimes listen to heavy metal and scremo and i don't, and my parents love mine! xD like i was listening to angels on the moon by thriving ivory and i asked my mom if she liked it an she was all "yeah i actually like this quite a lot" an i just started laughing....and then the other day i was blasting we the kings and my dad just asked "who are you listening to?" and i said we the kings and he replied, "hmmm....i like them....they're good...." and once again, i laughed xD
